October 7-8, 2023 – GunksFest
Fall in the Gunks brings out the best in climbing, from crisp rock to the radiant oak, maple, and birch trees that set the valleys below aflame in fall foliage.
The GCC is super excited to announce we will be ushering in that season as usual, with the return of our annual GunksFest: a celebration of climbing and community here in the Shawangunks sponsored by Arc’Teryx, the Gravity Vault, and Rock and Snow.
Our festival will be held (as always) on Indigenous People’s Weekend, October 7-8, as we are grateful to return to the iconic Stone Mountain Farm in Rosendale.
Building on the overwhelming success of our WinterFest, we are adding a full slate of climbing clinics that will be sure to benefit any experience level – over 25 at last count with a local roster of all-star guides! Just getting into outdoor climbing? We’ve got you covered with a Gym-to-Crag track that offers everything from the brand-new Getting to Know the Gunks to the encore of the super-popular How to Be a Good Second.
Ready to start going out on your own? Check out our multiple toprope anchor classes and safe descent courses.
For those looking to deepen their outdoor leading experience we have self-rescue clinics, first response sessions, and anchor masterclasses sure to up your game.
And we are super happy to partner with local guide services to offer both women-specific and affinity group-specific courses.
Climbing will be available just a short hike from the campground, both roped and bouldering at the storied Waterworks.
And that’s just the daytime program!
Our evenings will again feature our two-day Gunks Film Festival, and special guest speakers.
There will be contests, gear demos, vendors, food, meetups, all coming together in this incredibly unique community we are all so lucky to be part of.
