2022 Trapps Peregrine Closure Update 3/23/2022
0
The Mohonk Preserve has announced an update to this season’s closure in the Trapps to protect Peregrine Falcons. Nesting activity has been confirmed in the Trapps, so the size of the temporary climbing and bouldering closure has been reduced as of Wednesday, March 23rd to the vicinity of the nest. We appreciate your patience and cooperation with the closures needed to protect the falcons.

- To help you figure out where these climbs are if you’re not familiar, Laughing Man is one climb after Welcome to the Gunks, and just left of Credibility Gap, which will be within the closure. Bullfrog is just after Balrog and a couple of climbs before Alley Oop.
- Some of the popular climbs within the closure area include Asphodel, Beginner’s Delight, Snooky’s Return, Minty, Madame G’s, Le Teton, Northern Pillar, Guide’s Wall area, Immaculate Virgin, Dat/Dis Mantel, Raunchy, V3, Commando Rave, and Balrog.

As a reminder, Peregrine nesting season may possibly run through late summer. The Mohonk Preserve will keep us updated as the season progresses. Read any updates on the Mohonk Preserve website’s Peregrine Watch page.
