May 11, 2019 – GCC Spring BBQ
Save the date!
Saturday, May 11th, 2019 will be our annual GCC Spring BBQ! The party starts at 5pm and goes until 8pm. As usual, the event will be held at the Mohonk Preserve Visitors Center’s outdoor patio and will be free to joint Access Fund/GCC members. Join or renew at the BBQ for a discounted rate of $35 for membership in both the Access Fund and the GCC! Non-members may attend for $15.
There will be burgers and hot dogs, veggie burgers and beans, appetizers, salad, snacks and cookies, as well as water, beer, wine and soda to drink. The GCC will also give a quick update on the projects we’re working on.
This year’s raffle is EPIC! We have everything from ropes to whiskey, camping gear to climbing gym memberships and lots of packs! Watch the GCC social media for details on the prizes and our sponsors.
Many thanks to the Mohonk Preserve for the use of their patio and their continued support of the climbing community. Also, we are grateful to the many sponsors who donate to our BBQ and raffle. Let’s show them some love and give them your business in return.
Please RSVP so we know how much food and drink to purchase, and we’ll see you at the BBQ!

GCC BBQ FAQs
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
You must be 21 years old to drink alcohol. Bring ID.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Park at the Mohonk Preserve Visitor’s Center. At the front door, turn left and come around to the back patio to sign-in. Entrance is not permitted through the Visitor’s Center building.
Do I have to join?
This is an event to help raise funds for the Access Fund and Gunks Climbers’ Coalition. Joining or renewing at the event is $35 for a dual annual membership in the Access Fund and GCC, a $15 discount from the online price. We hope that you join, but otherwise admission for non-members is $15.
Can I bring my children?
Children under 12 accompanied by their GCC member parent can attend for free.
Can I bring my dog?
Because it’s outside, the Mohonk Preserve is OK with dogs, but for everyone’s safety and comfort, they should be on a leash, and unfriendly dogs left home. Note: the food is for humans, not dogs (unless you want to pay $15 for the dog’s dinner).
Are the veggie burgers vegan?
We will have salad, vegan baked beans and veggie appetizers, but note that the Morningstar Farms veggie burgers contain egg whites.
Can I show up later?
The event starts at 5pm, when most people show up, and if you come later, we cannot guarantee that there will be enough food left. So we recommend getting there close to the starting time.
What if I have to cancel my RSVP? How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
