Gunks Events

The Gunks Climbers’ Coalition has some regularly scheduled events. Additional events in the Gunks that we may or may not be participating in will also be listed here.

• GCC Meetings are held monthly, usually at the Mohonk Preserve Visitor Center. It is primarily for the Board of Directors but members are welcome to attend if they would like to get more involved. If you’re new, just send us a message and let us know you’re coming.
• The GCC BBQ Party is held in the Spring. All with current dual memberships to the GCC and Access Fund may attend with no admission fee and all food and drink served at the party is complementary. These events will include a status update from the GCC, and possibly presentations, slide shows, entertainment, raffles or silent auctions.
• GunksFest is held each year over Labor Day Weekend. Friday evening is for fest setup and camping attendees to arrive. Saturday and Sunday are filled with clinics and workshops all day and the vendor marketplace, contests, panels and film screenings in the evening. Monday is breakdown and departure day, and a good opportunity for everyone to head out across the Gunks for some climbing and practicing of the new skill sets they’ve picked up before departing for home.
• WinterFest takes place every March at the Gravity Vault in Poughkeepsie. A full day of guide and local-climber led technical clinics and talks has become an incredible community event that includes climbing in the gym and a socializing pizza party to round things off. 
• Adopt-A-Crag Day is held once a year (occasionally twice) to provide an opportunity for the climbing community to enhance or maintain the climbing environment. Giving back to the land we use for climbing promotes good relations with the landowners who allow us to use their land for climbing.
