Winterfest FAQ and List of Clinics

Thanks for your interest in the 2023 GCC Winterfest!

Ticketing

Ticketing is a little tricky, so please note the following to ensure you purchase the correct tickets. You have two choices:

  1. General Admission ticket (either regular or GV member) + 2 clinics
  2. Evening Social only

Everyone taking clinics must have a General Admission ticket, and you can only sign up for 2 clinics. General Admission tickets include the evening social event.
If you are only attending the 8pm evening social event (pizza party, swap meet and Hans Florine presentation), that is a different ticket and does not include climbing or clinics.

Pay attention to the length of your clinics to make sure they don’t overlap!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I get a discount for being a Gravity Vault member?

Yes. Tickets for those with valid GV memberships are $42.

Do I have to pay for the clinics?

Nope – but you do have to purchase a General Admission ticket. Each ticket includes access to two clinics (but you have to register).

Is there a limit to how may clinics I can add?

Yes – all General Admission tickets are limited to two clinics. If you register for more than two clinics we will assign you to two based on availability.

I'm not taking any clinics, can I just attend the evening social?

Yes! Tickets available for $25 (plus eventbrite fees). When you buy your tickets, you have the choice of getting a general admission ticket that includes the clinics, or just the evening social.

Can I buy a ticket for someone else?

Yes but you will need to come back in and add their clinics to your cart and check out again.

If I'm buying tickets for more than myself, how I can register more than one slot in a clinic?

We want everyone to get a chance to get into the clinics they want, so we are limiting registrations to 1 per clinic when you get your tickets. If your partner(s) want to take the same clinic as you, best that they purchase their own tickets.

Are tickets available at the door?

If the event does not sell out tickets will be available at the door. But purchase in advance to secure your clinic spots!

Is this event accessible?

Can I show up early to climb?

Yes! But you must register at noon with our check-in staff.

What should I bring?

Bring whatever you would normally have with your for climbing – your clinic instructor will reach out with specific requirements. Your credit card – we will be selling GCC T-shirts, stickers and GCC/Access Fund memberships. Don’t forget snacks – and anything you want to unload for the gear swap!

What should I bring for the evening social event?

If you’d like to bring your own plate and cup for the pizza party, it will help put less trash in the landfills. You can also bring something non-alcoholic to drink, or sports drinks can be purchased at the gym. For the slideshow, you may want a low chair if you need back support.

What's the Gear Swap?

It’s a longstanding Gunks tradition, formerly held at the Film Festivals of yore. It’s a chance to trade/sell some of your climbing/outdoor gear with fellow-minded climbers. Anything within reason goes!

Who is Hans Florine?

Hans is a legendary Yosemite climber and held multiple speed records climbing the Nose on El Capitan. Learn more about him here.

Can I climb during the evening social?

No, the gym closes to climbing at 8pm, and the rest of the evening is the social.

I have questions, who can I contact for help?

Please use this GCC form for any questions about the festival and ticketing. If you have a question related to climbing in the gym, the Gravity Vault’s phone number is (845) 462-1920.
